The Escalation Cycle and Interim Behavior Response Plans (IBRPs)

Explore the phases of The Escalation Cycle and use the cycle to develop staff response plans that support student and staff safety during a student’s escalation. Review appropriate responses for various stages of the cycle. Identify best practices and responses during the escalation cycle to minimize further escalation and develop and maintain safety protocol for all. Work with participants to create sample IBRPs that will develop capacity at school sites.
